I'm running a 2.7 processor, 2 gigs DDR ram, mid range Nvidia card, winXP, and I get 60+ fps on medium/high settings, so you're doing something wrong, or you have a system specific problem, or it's vista (I blame vista), or something else that has nothing to do with the game.
I'm under the reccomended specs by about 25%, I ran into a decent number of bugs, and initially it ran kind of bad.
However, I'm not retarded and looking for someone to blame, so I sat down and said "What all can I do to make this game run, and make it run well". After maybe 2 hours of playing around, re-patching some things, messing with my drivers, cleaning some stuff up, and messing with in game settings, I now run at an almost constant 60+ fps on medium/high settings for **everything**.
The reason I can do this is years of experience beta testing, and forcing games to work on my PC, and in my experience with other gamers, if you can't make a game work on a technically relevant PC, it's because you don't know what the f%^& you're doing. Stop blaming funcom for things that you could otherwise fix, or attempt to learn how to fix. Solutions are out there, most people just drop a game if it doesn't work with their pc fresh from box and first patch, that's user stupidity, and nothing else.
I'm going to play bully a bit because something on the first page made me trip over the posts for a moment...
"If someone reviews aoc saying good things about it... they have to lie...lol"
If you, or anyone you know, are about to hit the "post" button on such a worthless, opinionated, counter-productive, and above all, blatantly blind-minded thought, just let it go. We don't need any more this crap in these forums, really, that's enough, learn how to keep this crap to yourself.
Back to the conversation: The OP described the Vanguard release almost to a tee. I was in the beta for a few months up until release and almost everything he said AoC, as some have pointed out, plagued Vanguard from beta on. I'm not saying I love Vanguard, but I am saying it's a decently successful MMO, and I will say AoC has potential to be much better than that. Many of the problems that down-rate this game for people are easy fixes, or can at least be patched up until there's a full fix.
Most graphical errors are user errors. Since the beginning of computer gaming, most of the time if you have a graphical problem, it's either your fault, or your PC's fault, not the games. With that said, Conan does have some issues that are not "user error", which are being fixed. Know your PC, learn about the game's engine, I had the same problems as many people, and with a few system specific fixes, I'm getting a constant 60 FPS, on medium high settings, on a **UNDER RECOMENDED** PC.
In game issues such as class balance, rooting out exploits and exploiters, fixing quests, proportional loot throughout the game, and many other issues are POST RELEASE fixes by nature. I really appreciate people like the OP in this thread because they actually give specific complaints that aren't opinion based (for the most part) that can actually be discussed.
That would be a problem specific to WoW and woulden't neccecarily translate to another game. To me, your character *should* get more interesting to play as they get stronger and more skilled. I don't know yet if this is the case with conan first hand, but if it's true, then they've definitely done something right.
On the note of leveling too fast, I've gotten floods of information about many people/guilds abusing many things to level quite easily. At first I was quite annoyed about this, but I decided it was for the better. Since they so openly abused so many things, it got the attention of the devs, which means faster fixes. Also, they've ruined the game for themselves, so dishonest people won't be playing this game long. I'm not making any accusations, it just seems to me there were/are so many exploitable features at the moment due to dishonest beta testers that anyone with a weak will would be sucked into exploiting easily.
The biggest problem this forum has is that everyone feels their opinion of the game is more important than everyone else's. That's why we have 100 threads that are people complaining about problems they caused themselves, matters of opinion ("instancing killd dis gme so it suks" or something of the like) which cause other overly-opinionated forum go-ers to fire back with more irrelevant opinions/personal attacks.
Really, all their doing is pointing themselves out and saying "I don't like this game for personal reasons, you shouldn't like it either because of my personal reasons".
