I was going to talk about Warhammer Online today, but I decided to talk about the possible Bioware/Lucas Arts MMO because of all the recent rumors. First off, none of this is for certain. All I know is that Bioware is making an MMO, and Lucas Arts has confirmed that they are working with Bioware for a Star Wars game. This could be the same game, or two different games. If a new Star Wars MMO is developed, it will probably be set in the Clone Wars because of the new movie coming out this August or a KotOR MMO. I really doubt it will be anything like Pre-CU SWG because all the other Star Wars games made by Bioware were a class/level system. So it will probably look something like NGE SWG, but hopefully much better. I really dont think there is any chance of the PvP turning in to "buff wars", in fact it could be quite good if it was made to be like warhammer online but with vehicles and more of a shooter play style. Of course, there is always the chance that Lucas Arts is absolutely ticked about what SOE did to SWG, and have hired Bioware to make a game like a new and improved Pre-CU SWG. Lets hope so.
Lets go on to what things will be like if there ISNT a new Star Wars MMO coming. Obviosly, the new Star Wars Bioware game will either be KotOR 3 or The Clone Wars game that is on the star wars website, but there is no info about it whatsoever. The Bioware MMO will probably be something along the lines of DDO2, but probably much better. I would not be suprised if the game is based HEAVILY off of D&D 4.0. That might not be that bad because Bioware is making it instead of Turbine, whose newer games haven't been very successful.

Because it is possible to enjoy more than one game.
Because they have the funds to keep it going.
Because it doesn't matter that you 'wish wow fails'.
Because every game that has been set to compete with WoW has failed.
Because WAR is a good game, but so is WoW. IMO, and in 11 millions others minds.
Because people have time invested, and a lot of it.
Because some of my friends still play it, and so do some of yours.
Because those of us having fun playing WoW could care less about the back and forth flamewars between fanbois on sites like this....
The only thing that will effect WoW's subscriber base is it's subscribers becoming bored with the game and moving on. Every day there are still new players coming in, and last time I was on, the bg's were full and the landscape was happening.
For all you nubs claiming mental superiority over WoW players... are you bloody serious??? LOL
IT'S A GAME, JUST A GAME, AND ONLY A GAME.
If you seriously put yourself higher on the intellectual ladder because you play one game over another...you have issues....
You forgot to add something, maybe the fact that most of WoWs subs are farmers, gold sellers, or bots and its a simple game with alot of popularity.
And also when you say every game has failed that has tried to compete against WoW,... I would like to tell you THAT IS BS. if everygame has failed that tried to compete with WoW we wouldn't have any other mmos, and this website would be called WoW not mmorpg.
heres some games as proof that every game hasn't failed:
1.CoH/CoV
2. LOTRO
3. Tabula Rasa
4. Guild Wars
5. just look at the list of mmos in the released section of the website.
Tabula Rasa was and forever will be, an EPIC FAIL!!!
To tell the truth, The only MMO's I would ever find myself playing other than WoW are Vanguard(even though it had a terrible launch it is starting to regain subs, most likely because of the AoC disaster and there will be a free trial to get more players back soon, because it has improved a lot) and EQ2, which is a great PvE game all around, and I really enjoyed playing it in the past. Also, Darkfall looks amazing, if it is ever even released.
These games are the only games to have PvE content that is difficult enough and fun enough for me to play the game, but one of the big reasons I play WoW is because there is lots of quality PvP and PvE content. However, I really believe I will be leaving WoW for darkfall.
Dude it's not a good idea the combat is terrible don't make the same mistake I did and preorder.
WAR combat is slow and boring. Especially for melee characters who just stand there and press a button every 2 seconds, and if the person you are fighting runs, you actually have to move forward and follow them. The last part is most likely the more entertaining.....
None of the classes in WAR even compare to WoW, and the PvE is pathetic. Trust me, stay away from WAR. WoW is a much better game, with more than just RvR content that is actually decent.
omg we will never have trouble finding a tank for a non-heroic 5man again 70% of the WoW players are going to have Death Knight mains ![]()
um because the WAR pve sucks? I was in beta, the instances are horrible, the combat is slow and incredbly boring for melee class who just get up close and hit a button..1...2...hit another...and it goes on and on until a morale ability they want lights and then they click that.....how can that in any way be considered fun? Personally I find EVERY class in WoW to be so much more fun than any of them in WAR. Throughout the entire game it seems like there is a lack of decent PvE content, and its all easy crap that a person could play with their eyes closed. RvR is at least a challenge, but still, who wants to spend all their time playing an MMO doing PvP? I want good PvE, and I want good PvP, and I want new content to keep me busy. How would new content work in WAR? New PvE content would be horrible, and "new" PvP content wouldn't really be that new, as the only things they could add are more scenarios, higher renown ranks, and more PvP gear. All MMO's have a problem with a lack of new PvP content, but at least with WoW I can do something fun that isn't PvP for once. And the mastery system in WAR is horrible, much less customization than the WoW talent point system. And don't even get me started on that thing mythic claims is crafting.
