  • Thanks Plasuma, I enjoyed reading your posts.  Although I'm not in the game industry I see that what you described is very similar to what I am faced with.  I'd say it's similar to any industry.

    So yeah, the publishers pushing games out and lying about them are a big part of the problem, but the players are a part of the problem as well.  So while I dislike AoC for being like this, and the crazy people who defend the unfinished game, I don't want it to fail at all.  Its a game, for fun.  It may even be bad for the industry as a whole, but as long as people can have fun, I hope their MMO is around for them.

     

    A lot of people like the game.  They are not a problem.  How is that a problem?

    There is no problem in fact, but if the game does fail, it won't be due to those players who you want to wake up, it won't be due to players all of the sudden realize that the game is not perfect, it will be solely the error of the game maker.  Funcom can screw up if they won't add content to the game, or if they won't update, or listen to players' demands.  But it seems they already made their millions and now their job is to sustain.  They are not wow, but they will get a nice juicy chunk.

    Or, alternatively, FC will realize they screwed the pooch and shut down all servers, never to produce an MMO again. Blizzard will launch Universe of Starcraft and WAR40K will steal all there subs... but after 2012 the world ends so it won't matter anyway... gotta take my medication...
