I swear they just borrow L2, change a few bits around and then pump these games out once or twice per quarter, then give them a name they made using a random generator.
I mean, c'mon.. Legend of the Golden PLUME?? ![]()

can face away from the target and still hit with a weapon, like most MMO's.
Funny, I always get "must face target" if I try hitting while not facing.
Yep, that's completely untrue. You cannot hit a target if you have your back to it. In fact, in every MMO I've played over the last 5-6 years, you couldn't do that either.
People are still forgetting what a Beta test is for. It's not a free pass to play the game early, it's not even a free trial. You're supposed to try and help them make a better game by logging in and breaking stuff before they release. Where's your sense of MMO civic duty?
If you don't want to become a Fileplanet member and pay a share of the bandwidth and whatever, then don't. You're not missing out on anything. Sure, people who do get into Beta might have a better handle on the game that does release, but really, is it that important?
At the end of the day, Funcom is doing what they think is best for their company and and software. Getting into Beta isn't a bloody contest or anything. It's your chance to help the entire community of AoC by helping Funcom make a better game. If you don't get in, then no big deal you know? Better luck next time.
I've been subscribed to AoC's various websites for the last couple of years, and haven't received a beat key. Such is life, I'll just wait for release.
As much as I enjoy posts from people like Avery for the information and clarity, I have to side with Lobotomist on this one. RP-PvP for the most part won't work. Sure enough, RPers seek out like-minded folk and they will do alright, but for general Joe-RP'er, it's not gonna work.
RP, to an extent, is the simulation of an alternative life/world. The immersion in a world foreign and yet similar to the one we live in. In real life we don't walk around attacking people without reason. We don't know the person probably, don't know their strengths. Are they armed? Isn't it better to live peacefully and coexist with others? Some people do go around randomly attacking others, but society generally deems these people as needing incarceration or mental therapy.
This is why RP-PvP doesn't really work on a server-wide scale. In an MMO we can all see the relative strength of another player and make assumptions. I would go so far as to say that most PvP is simply one person attacking another simply because they can. Roleplay barely comes in to it.
How is one Cimmerian attacking another Cimmerian in the wilds roleplaying, and not simply one player attacking another because they can? Roleplay should be about immersion (to me at least), and random back-stabs in the wilderness are not immersive. Not even in the Conan world. Conan didn't just walk about aimlessly PK'ing noobs for the shits and giggles. There was always an aim to his conflict. And besides battlegrounds, bar brawls and RvR, the majority of PvP is aimless.
Jeez.. is it just me or were the press folks there a bit slow off the mark? You've got sound issues from someone's mobile phone going off half the time, and Gaute was continually asking for questions and input, and not a damn peep from the press until the last 3 minutes of the video.. Isn't the press supposed to ask questions and report that to us fans? Not being much of a pvper, I would have liked to have learned more about 'crafting cities' that were mentioned...
What is your favourite Mage archetype class in Age of Conan?
