  • Less graphic intensity is a good thing in a MMO.. if a game requires a state of the art computer to play smoothly it's going to turn off many players from the start a la Vanguard and cause the game to fail. Not having a $2000+ computer shouldn't prevent you from being able to play the latest MMO's competitively. if the graphics were any more intensive, large scale RvR would be unbearable for most PC's, i'm sure Mythic had that in mind when they designed the graphics, and for that reason and others the game is successful and has mass-appeal.. I like the fact that i'm able to play this game without issues on a $700 computer I bought 1-2 years ago, and have no problems at all with the graphics even on the lowest settings.

    To be honest you just sound like a spoiled baby who is new to gaming in general..back in the day people were lucky to have 8-bit 2-D graphics on a computer, you should be thankful you're able to play a game this good.

• • Waiting on installation..hope I picked the right game; what are some fun Order classes?

  • I reently found myself in MMO Limbo with no game to play, and also recently upgraded my PC, so I was debating between buying this and AoC. Since nobody could be bothered to give me a AoC buddy key after multiple requests, I bit the bullet and blindly bought Warhammer instead since it seemed more appealing overall. I enjoyed DAOC in the past and loved to RvR so I figure mythic can make another good game. Now while I wait for the install to finish (and pray the game works smoothly on my PC), anyone have some class advice on what's fun to play and learn the game with?

    I saw that Order is outnumbered on every server, much like Hibernia/Midgard were in the old DAOC .. so for that reason i've decided to play Order to help try and balance things out. i'm a skilled PvPer with 10+ years of MMO PvP experience now so ideally i'd like to join up with other folks serious about PvP, but I digress..

    I know the game has only been live a week live now so I don't expect much in-depth response to this.. but any help is appreciated. As for what I like to play, I generally prefer melee or hybrid-type classes, and I have a sense of integrity in that I won't play the 'ez-mode' overpowered class of the month that takes no skill to succeed with. I prefer to play on the 'underdog' side or play a class that isn't very popular or might be underpowered, but still good in a good player's hands. I tend to avoid the overpowered, overplayed classes in MMO's and get disgusted with lopsided PvP in which one side always dominates.

    Having said all that, I have to admit my gut instinct was to play Destruction, they really made all of the classes on that side look and sound cooler and more fun, vs. Order which seems to have more clinical, generic MMO class choices.

    Witch Hunter, White Lion and ironbreaker have looked the most interesting to me thus far, any advice?

  • So.. while we're in the sharing mood, anyone else happen to have a spare buddy key that could PM it to me? ;) I really want to play the game but need to be sure my system can run it before buying.. and the trial seems so far away right now; i'm in MMO Limbo right now with nothing to play but i'm certain i'll subscribe to Vanguard if my system can run it.., can anyone help me out? Already asked on the official forums with no response :(

• • Honest opinions: Is EQ2 worth returning to today?

  • I played the game for the better part of a year a few years back.. and the came back and tried it again a year ago for the new content and races and AA stuff, and found it fun but eventually gave it up for WoW, then later decided to quit WoW until WOTLK and tried out LOTRO, and now recently grew tired of that.

    So, i'm in MMO Limbo right now looking for a new game, and if I can't decide on one, may very well go back to playing single-player RPG's like Baldur's Gate and Fallout until something new comes out. That brings us to the question, is EQ2 honestly worth coming back to now? This latest 'expansion' doesnt look like an expansion to me, but more like a paid content patch.. no new races or classes or professions, probably no new content for people under 70 too from the looks of it. perhaps they're planning on unleashing a real expansion in the next 6 months cause they don't want to do it now with stiff competition from new WoW, LOTRO, WAR and others coming out before christmas?

    Anyway,.I know a lot of people posting here are either going to be a fan of the game in question or hate it, but if anyone can give me an unbiased opinion i'd appreciate it. Would I realistically be able to re-start with EQ2 now and not feel overwhelming temptation to quit again 1-2 months later for something new? Or better yet, how many of you playing EQ2 are planning to drop it by the end of the year for a new game or expansion?

     

    Edit: I'm actually debating between EQ2 and trying out Vanguard now.. anyone played both and have an opinion?
