I'd have to agree with the 'play it to learn it' strategy, even if you start out not reading the tutorial (not recommended) its easy enough to pick up as you go along. Its a graphical version of an old game played with coloured beads. I must admit to wasting a few play sessions at a time doing nothing else, but once you hit areas of around the same level as your dip' lvl it should be just part of your exploring, probably a more fun way of doing it.
The general critisism of it, is that there is no point to it. Personally for me, it all adds to depth and exploration and fun, the 3 things I look for. I'm not really a carrot on a stick kind of player. I'm more than happy to spend hours going out of my way to find stuff, not because there's phat lewt there, but just because few others have been there before me. Thats right I'm a scrub ![]()

Seems like this game is going down, fast. I only tried it at a friend and wasnt impressed but is the game that bad? Heck, even Tabula Rasa is ranked higher...
Well, why don't you look at how many people created 5 or 6 accounts just to rate it a 1.
The scoring system on this website is complete and 100% moot for that reason.
Would have been about the same number of fanbois doing likewise

You have no information about what the 30+ devs do.
They obviously don't build games that's for sure otherwise DF would have been done a loooooong time ago.
Can you name these 30+ devs? No? Then stop making stuff up.
That makes no sense.
If you are discussing the actual combat mechanics in AoC you have do it in comparison to other games of the genre. Spell casting is the same as most with weaving added at 50. Melee is simply superior, especially if you consider yourself a pvp'er. The implementation of those mechanics however is up for arguement ofc.
For me the game fails simply because of the utterly poor CS, I have no intention in playing a game where the entire company seems to pretend you dont exist.
If you have a very polished game, it is possible to get away with having very limited discourse with your customers. But if you have a hell of a lot of bug fixing to go and content to improve and add (let alone some balance and such), you need to be honest and open with your customers. To ignore people while making radical changes to the game people are currently playing will serve only to annoy and eventually no matter how much people enjoy the game they will get pissed off and move on.
Sorry what did I miss? What's wrong with the graphics they look pretty good to me. From the screenies the lighting seems to be absent (on the ones I looked at) but everything else seems kinda nice.
There are a few games coming out in the near future, most likely before this one, people are just waiting to be dissapointed by those first. Personally wasn't keeping eye on this just because it seemed to be quite a way down the road.
What aspect of MMORPG's are you more into?
