Discusses a viable money maker for Sony..and no matter how "Evil" anyone thinks Sony is, this move was phenomenal.
The trading card genre has been a major avenue of funds for MtG, WoW, White Wolf...and now we have a Virtual TCG ready to play as long as you have a Station account name (don't even have to pay for initial access)
The game is visually appealing..uses a lot of sounds and actions from EQ, and playable with others...including trading cards or even selling for real cash...
If more MMO's could find ways to differentiate themselves, they could also have value. With a stale MMO market at this time, here is a way to wake up those old players and bring new one's in.
How do YOU feel about the TCG? Let me know...sound off in comments below.

Originally posted by matrixvsVista is part of the problem. Thats for sure. But there are some players that are running XP and still have these memory crashes. Part of the problem is that Vista is using up RAM for the video card and when it comes to high memory demanding games like AOC it will clash. Now that doesn't mean its just Vista to blame. No game to this date has been released with more than 2 gb of RAM as requered to play. Or using windows VIsta 64 bit version.

AOC will be launching with problems for alot of players performance wise. I find it quite ironic that after a post from me got deleted cause it showed the game crashing I got a following msg from Mod on this website
You prolly didnt get to read my post but you have WAY to many programs running in your background. I saw in your SS that you have 50 Active Processes running. OUCH! Not sure about Vista but XP only needs 14 to run. Turn off all the useless stuff you have running and it will make a BIG difference. You can always turn them back on after you finish playing AoC. Hope that helps.
1. Im running windows vista installed 2 days ago when the screenshot was taken. There is only one none orginal Windows vista program not running. That is my anti-virus that I have turned of and it doesn't matter at all.
2. I have turned of every single windows Vista coponent that can without the system crashing.
3. Windows VIsta works diffrently than XP in the sence that the task manager shows all running tasks while XP does only show the users runnig tasks. So if a person is having 14 tasks shown in their taskbar in XP doesn't mean there arnt more running. I have 12 processes running as user.
4. My pc spec. Some are claiming my PC is crap and thats why its not working. I have already posted my spec few times including few days ago - I do so here again.
http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/1874/runitbf7.jpg
5. It doesn't matter if I run the game in highest quality or the lowest. I have the same problems. OFC the FPS is higher but the stuttering and crashes are exactly the same.
6. My PC can run every single game other than AOC exept one - Hellgate London. Its kinda strange Im not crashing for the other games since my PC is to blame ? Isn't it ? Now Hellgate London ... do I need to talk about that sad story of a game ? Maybe I need to remind you what memory leak did to that game ? Yes lets do that and maybe someone will see some simularities ?
ever thought in the right mind that the real problem is windows vista...?
most of u ppl dont seem to remember that microcrap even confirmed that vista actuly works crap doesnt support a lot and has more bug and flaws than win 95 had..
so stop blaming the damn game for ur own stupidity
But... if Vista is the problem and considering microsoft gaming is behind AOC then why not fix it ? Thing is - it wont get solved while noone confirms there is an issue. At this point in time Funcom talk about minority of ppl having problems. Minority could still be 49%.
But Vista is not the issue...AoC is...
Yeppers!

There is a huge diffrence between a game that has gamebreaking issues and flawless. Name me 10 games that have been launched that had so big issues that it wasn't playable.
Now - is the goal to do better than the games that were unplayable or to set the standard abit higher ?
changing your arguement now?
Wasn't it just "What Im asking ppl to do is not spend even 2 cents on product that is not ready or in any way broken- then it doesn't matter if its AOC - WAR - WOW - AC or Super mario."
And not playable by who? Minus the crash here and there which seemed to disapear with that last patch, i had no true issues at all, nor did most of the guys i game with, tho we also run 3-6 gigs of ram, and would never be dumb enough to try to run vista on anything under 4 gigs
i'll do a fast edit as to not pad my post count, Vist takes up 800mb to 1.2 gigs of ram by itself, AoC takes up 1gb to 1.5 gb itself, run those two togather on 2 gigs of ram, yes, you will be unable to play it. Get more ram
secondly - its not playable for me. After last pach - your miracle patch. I have posted proofs but they got deleted cause it was breaking NDA. But look around.
Third. Again - go to the pre-order website and take a look at the minimum and recommended spec. Then send a post to Funcom and ask them to add that their game is not running under Vista unless you have 3 gbs of Ram. Why are you mad at me for using 2 gbs when the minimum for the game is 1 gb ? Im not gonna try to run AOC with 1 gb of RAM. But thats what the makers are saying will work. Now... if they are talking about minimum as a game that will launch at all or can be played for 1 min without crashing. I dont know.
Standards - not flawless. There is a huge diffrence. You can always claim that any product isn't flawless. But they all have to meet certain standards. Those standards are not withheld in the Gaming indursty. But maybe we should start thinking about it for abit. Before we start buying a box and wait 5 years for the game to be developed. But hey.. maybe you would be happy about it. Thats why its usually the industry that agrees on the standards. But the gaming industry hasn't got any.
They still have not shut that one down, and ready for this?
PEOPLE STILL BUY it...
Isnt that insane?
But, I digress...your arguments are still over a product that has NOT been released. Now, if I buy the box, and the 30 days suck...then guess what..I will speak with my wallet, and never have to pay another dime...but, the only way I will know if the game is any good...is to buy it.
I bought Bioshock...and guess what...I hated it...yet, everyone kept screaming about Crackdown being a crappy game...yet I pick it up on a regular basis and play it..
It will form a more objective opinion if I play it...I have learned this now...and I would prefer to wait and scream doom when I SEE doom...not when some guy who has computer issues screams it.....

Something is causing problems - not just for me but for others to. Its beta alright and part of beta is to find those issues and fix them. But just like Hellgate London it has not been solved. Even when we are sending detailed info to Funcom. I said about 3 months ago that if AOC would be crashing cause of memory leaks for one single custimor in reitail - then the game had failed. This is the point. The game IS not ready until performance issues like these are fixed. Saying they will be fixed at somepoint in the near or far future is NOT what ppl should by buying. Cause Memory leak issues are major problems - its not some minor issues that are fixed in last 4 days before launch.
And about anivirus programs since some ppl can't read posts here. I have used Micro trend for past 3 years but I stoped the sub cause AOC didn't support it. And I dont like to leave my PC unprotected for long times. I have however run the game with fresh system and no antivirus programs with exactly same results. So Im sorry to dissapoint you - but its not that.
OFC its something that is causing these problems. Not all are having those but some are. Now - I have repeatedly sent info about this like many others to Funcom. Alot of my suggestions reguarding the gameplay and features have been implemented. But it all comes down to nothing if the game can't run with resonably guaranty cuase of performance issues.
Memory leak did not exist for me...played one session 4 hours non stop, zero problems...
So, again, how can my system...which is almost exactly like yours (except motherboard and your video card being the next iterations...) run this game in such a "stable" manner...unless...you have a computer problem?
Good luck getting that taken care of though!
Originally posted by Alan0nThats correct...those are the specs for a "released" game...and not Open Beta, which there had been stated issues with dual Core usage not being enabled..

The processor is running at default (E6600 at 2.4) this is a minimum as stated by Funcom, and not "recommended"...3.0Ghz is recommended...and don't throw the "dual core" argument...it is still 2.4 a core, and I dont care who you are...this is a low rating...period. I use an E6600 oc'd to 3Ghz with ZERO issues...(besides 2 other systems all 3 Ghz...and all ran perfectly fine)
Now - This is a blatant lie. One that is not hard to proof. So plz before you talk such crap then take a sec to get your facts straight
Go to http://www.ageofconan.com/order_UK.html or any other official pre-order site
Read the minimum and recomended spec. And note this is OFFICIAL from the makers. Its NOT something you made up.
Minimum System requirements
- OS: Windows XP / Windows Vista
- GFX: Shader 2.0 and 128MB ram, GeForce 6600
- RAM: 1GB
- CPU: 3 GHz, Pentium 4
- Resolution: 1024x768
Recommended Specs:
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz or better
- GFX: nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX or higher
- RAM: 2 GB
Players are buying this game from offical sites with these info. Now... if the game does't run on Windows Vista with just 2 gb ram - then dont blame my PC for it. Blame the company that is selling the game in pre-order without mentioning that "small" detail.
So, instead...take a moment, go get someone who knows about computers to come look at yours, as it has an issue...and needs to be fixed before release...
And like I said...come AFTER release...then doom and gloom us...k?
Originally posted by KcissemCorrect...but, it had been noted it was not in Open Beta as well, so some code issues were present to spike the CPU's...even though only one was being used according to posts on their main forums.....so, if he waits, a whole new world may open up performance wise...but, he is stating here that the game is a dud due to performance issues...which having almost the same system, I did not have...

why not use the dual core arguement? the minimum specs that state 3.0ghz is for 1 cpu. have 2 cpus running at 2.4 is well above minimum specs. forinstance i have 4 cpus running at 2.67ghz and when i run the "can i run it" program on nvidia's site for AOC it states it is above recommended specs not below.
Having more than one core means quite alot especially if the program is programmed for multithreading which AOC is, so while he may have a cpu clocked at 2.4 he has two of them so AOC it self will utilize his second core for different threads, effectively you have 2 cpu's daisy chained sharing the load. The same goes for quad cores and yes AOC does take advantage of all 4 cores as they were all used for me during OB.
It also is of note that spewing doom and gloom BEFORE release is so wrong...really...he needs to get a grip is all.
And the fact dual cores will be working in release, it will be doubly delicious (yep...)
