    • This game looks like a load of fun BUT...
    • EVE is great, one of the best MMOs i have ever played for sure. If not THE best imo. It has unique skills system which doesnt require the eternal grinding to level up. It has hundreds of diferent skills and templatates for your character. Economy is very complex and it works great. The community is solid and most times u can find 20000+ players online. The game is very complex, very complete and very very fun.

      I love it!

      EVE Online
    • AoC vs LotRO
    • Well i like to play AoC and i didnt like LOTRO. Even tho LOTRO might be more complete in some aspects i love AoC´s graphics (its the best out there for MMOs) and i like the combat system that is not as boring as in most fantasy MMOs.

I feel the whole reason that these games are becoming more and more instance'd is pure because so many people dislike travel times so developers try to make as much content close together, which can't be done if it's a seemless world cause like I said we would get to many people on one spot so the gameworld has to be bigger to eleminate people camping or going after the same thing, thus creating longer travel times.

Another thing I find rather strange is that many complain about Hybroria feeling rather small, though people like OP seem to find it pretty big due to his complaint about travel times. And yet many keep wondering why these games change as much as we keep seeing.

Again (what a great game) SWG handled pretty well with camped sites not having to create new instances for that. We had missions yerminals and we could pick up 2 at a time  but as many times as we wanted and our objective just pop somewhere close by for u to kill/destroy. There was mobs for everyone, missions for everyone at the level u wanted (there was level for missions but not for characters) no problem with camped sited to grind. There was some special dungeons that u could find ppl when u hunting and u had to share or wait but thoe were not grinding places but high end loot farming spots and there ware quite a few dungeons and that plus terminal missions was more than enough for everyone.

I dont know maybe its just me but i think instances breake the imersion. I like to meet my friends and guildies or even unknown ppl while exploring, hunting, fighting and instances make it harder. The more instances the harder is to meet ppl. I love big open maps, but most MMOs are instanced s i got used to it but i cant say i like becaquse i dont.

I am still playings and even i like the game in general it is true that it has many problems. It has potential, stunning graphics and sound, best out there by far So is the character customization, maybe the best ive seen. Combat system is ok, not as slow as most fantasy MMOs. Animations are very nice, i like them a lot, fatality is a must. The blood is nice too, the character motion, jogging, runing, on the horse, all very natural.

So the game has great aspects but in the other hand it has a lot of bugs. It lacks high end content badly and midle end as well. It is way too much instanced i really dislike instances. And it has instances for verything, very imersion breaking imo. The story is too linear since the begining, no options to grind with diferent characters. Might get very boring if wanna build few toons. And it gets even worse at higher lvls. Loot sux! No otions for clothing and they are ugly. Crafted items are poor and crafting is still bugged. It lacks player housing. Traveling is a pain like most MMOs, some ppl dont agree but i dont like to spend most of my time traveling to get to objectives. Groups are too small, only 6,  but thats only my opinion i like big groups.

My conclusion after less than 2 months playing is that the game is fun but it is also very incomplete. It can be good but it will depend on a lot of work and know how, lets see if Funcon can handle it. I love the graphics and sound and i like the combat so im gonna stick for a while waiting inprovements, fingerscrossed :p

Your obviously playing the game, you've played a total of 87 hours this week according to your xfire sig.

That is a ridiculous amount of atleast 12 hours per day, I think you should go outside.

You could try reading before you reply. OP never said he wasn't playing , bit creepy though to see people checking up on others they don't even know (atleast I asume you don't know eachother)

Oh and OP you still didn't really answer my question:

how do you picture yourself a game that isn't instanced and doesn't have lots of travel time?

You did say teleports and flight paths" which afcourse is nice for a short term solution and can hide the lack of worldcontent. So thats half a asnwer  cause I wonder have you looked at the conseqence or the effect it could make long term?

I think we could have some instances for diferent regions but i think there are too many. And most caves, castles or whatever are instanced too and u can never meet other ppl in those dungeons. Its not terrible but i cant say i like it. SWG was great on thas aspect, u had instances for planets but on the planets u had mostly an open map where u could meet a lot of ppl doind their things while u were on a mission or exploring or hunting. Even inside buildings or caves or dungeons.

Second about traveling. It just need a more complex travel system so u dont have to cross 2 or 3 entire maps to get to some place. Again i can give old SWG as an example, some times u had to travel a lot too but most of the time u could shuttle to some place close by where u want and just drive a bit. You could always choose between drive an shuttle if on the same planet, that was a great system.

But traveling is a problem in most MMOs, not really a problem but a matter and some deal better with it than others.
