I canceled mine as well. I just couldn't convince myself to follow through after I've been enjoying my time much much more in FFXI and UO. Nothing bad I can say about WAR - it has it strong points, it has its weak points just like any other MMO out there.
i'd be willing to sub to game with similar graphics so long as the gameplay was fun and engaging. While the graphics lacked the standard of titles from larger studios, I still felt they were consistant enough with the aesthetic and found it appealing. There really were some good looking moments in the movie so I wasn't let down. Hopefully, there actually is a game there. We'll soon find out I guess

hehe I remember for the first month, I wouldn't turn on my light to see at night because I thought it might have something to do with Jedi. I wandered around in the dark, bumping into trees and large pointy cats on Corellia, thinking "A Jedi would use his senses (ouch), and rely on the Force (oof) to guide him (scuse me kitty)."
Anyone else remember the "Nobles Quest Theory" from the forums? I can't remember who it was, but on the Jedi forums, not too long before Monika T'ransvestite unlocked, there was a theory that obtaining Jedi had something to do with the little missions you did for Nobles. I think it turned out to be a bug.
Yeah, I remember that. I don't know what its like now, but I remember npcs randomly spawning across planets and all these npcs would always hand out missions(really no different than those from mission terminals).
The theory was, was that by doing these missions, over time, they would offer more and more obvious clues as to what type of npc you should be speaking to next and would eventually lead you to a "jedi trainer" type npc.
DAoC has pretty much the exact implementation and I was never a huge fan of that system. While it is nice to have a "house", outside of personal gratification there is no point to owning one. It would be optimal for neighborhoods to be social gathering places, but right now they're just ghost towns.
I kind of wish they allowed players to purchase "apartments" within the major cities, at least in Bree where there would probably be such establishments in addition to going the EQ2/Vanguard/Horizons route by having set houses/lots in certain cities and areas with high traffic that players could purchase. Sure, this would make it more difficult to provide housing to everyone, but thats where apartments would come into play(since they would be instanced).
I personally found it fairly bland and boring as well. However, I actually loved the aesthetic. The gameplay itself is just typical. Quests are boring, Combat is boring. The game is linear. Thankfully there are 6 different races to go through to alleviate the linearity. Granted, this is something that will change with time.
What is your favorite of EVE's four major factions?
